On The Air With Bret Bielema Kicks Off Thursday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – “On the Air with Bret Bielema,” Coach Bielema’s weekly radio show presented by Lindsey and West Rock Coffee Company, returns for the 2017 season on Thursday night starting at 7 p.m. For the ninth straight year, the one-hour radio show will be broadcast live from the Catfish Hole.

Junior co-captain Santos Ramirez and junior offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt will serve as guests on the first of two shows before next week’s season opener against Florida A&M at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. The second show will be next Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m.

Chuck Barrett, the voice of the Razorbacks, will host the show. Fans can make reservations to attend the shows by calling the Catfish Hole at 479-521-7008. Tickets are $25 and include all-you-can-eat dinner buffet with catfish, shrimp and chicken.

Arkansas will be part of the first Thursday night of the 2017 college football season when it hosts Florida A&M. It marks the first time since 2001 that Arkansas will open the season on a Thursday night. The Razorbacks defeated UNLV in the 2001 season opener. It will also be the program’s first Thursday night game since 2003 when Arkansas took down South Carolina, 28-6. Both of those games were played at War Memorial Stadium.

One of Arkansas’ leaders on the defensive side of the ball, Ramirez started seven of 12 games played last season. He recorded 43 tackles, returned his lone interception for a 24-yard touchdown, and forced two fumbles, including one against No. 12 Ole Miss that clinched the 34-30 victory for the Razorbacks.

A native of Svendborg, Denmark, Froholdt started all 13 games at left guard as a sophomore last season. He was part of an offensive line that blocked for 428.4 yards of total offense per game and helped the offense log both 200 yards passing and rushing in the same game five times. He also opened lanes for running back Rawleigh Williams III, who captured the SEC regular-season rushing title and finished with 1,360 yards, and provided time for the SEC’s total passing yardage leader, Austin Allen. An Outland Trophy candidate, Froholdt will enter his second season on the offensive line after playing defensive tackle as a freshman in 2015.

The show will be carried throughout the state of Arkansas on the Razorback Sports Network and locally in Fayetteville on 99.5 FM, 92.1 FM and 93.3 FM.
