Paityn Noe, Mia Cochran register top 20 finishes at Pre-Nationals

MADISON, Wisconsin – Arkansas sophomore Paityn Noe produced a seventh-place finish in the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals on Saturday to lead the Razorbacks as she covered the 6,000m distance in 19 minutes, 19.5 seconds.

No. 2 BYU won the team title with 105 points over No. 3 Washington (157) and No. 1 Northern Arizona (166). No. 29 Arkansas scored 568 points to place 23rd in team scoring among a field of 33 schools.

Mia Cochran followed Noe in placing 18th with a time of 19:51.8, producing her fastest time at this distance. Noe improved upon a 19:43.7 she established at the SEC Championships last year.

Noe produced a steady pace in the race with 2k splits of 6:23.2 (6th), 6:31.2 (11th), and 6:25.2 (7th). Team-wise, Arkansas was 20th at 2k, then 23rd at 4k and 6k.

New Mexico’s Pamela Kosgei won the individual title in 18:59.1 with Florida’s Hilda Olemomoi runner-up in 19:02.9 and Tulane’s Caroline Jeptanui third in 19:05.4.

Olivia Pielemeier placed third among the Razorbacks, placing 160th overall and 158 in adjusted scoring. Following and completing Arkansas’ team score were Tiana LoStracco (194th | 21:20.2) and Chachi Gonzales (195th | 21:20.4).

The rest of the Razorback crew included Mackenzie Rogers (214th | 21:36.2), Ruby Little (247th | 22:26.9) and Morgan Kirkland (249th | 22:31.6).

Among SEC schools in the race, Florida placed 10th (368), and were followed by Texas (18th | 499), Arkansas, Tennessee (25th | 568), and Ole Miss (32nd | 804).
