Platt Named to John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas senior tight end Jaden Platt was named to the 2026 John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List, which recognizes the nation’s top collegiate tight ends.

Platt was one of 43 tight ends nationally named to the watch list and one of 10 tight ends from the SEC.

The Haslet, Texas native started 11 games and appeared in all 12 games in 2025. Platt recorded 21 receptions for a total of 296 yards and two touchdowns a year ago. He had a career-high 66-yard receiving performance on four receptions, highlighted by an eight-yard touchdown pass from KJ Jackson in the fourth quarter of the Hogs’ final road game of the 2025 season at Texas on Nov. 22. He also had three catches for 53 yards in a loss at Ole Miss on Sept. 13.

The watch list represents programs from every level of major college football and highlights players who have demonstrated talent, leadership and potential heading into the upcoming season. The John Mackey Award Selection Committee will continue to evaluate candidates throughout the season, with additional players eligible to be added based on their on-field performance.

Presented annually to the most outstanding tight end in college football, the John Mackey Award honors the legacy of Pro Football Hall of Famer John Mackey, whose excellence, leadership, character, and impact on the game continue to inspire generations of student-athletes. Established in 2000 by the Nassau County Sports Commission, the award remains one of college football’s premier individual honors for the tight end position.

In addition to being named to the Watch List, Platt was previously named a nominee for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team on July 20, which recognizes college football student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional commitment to community service, academics and athletics.
