Preview – Arkansas vs. UAFS Exhibition

Arkansas women’s basketball will play its lone exhibition this Wednesday night, as the team hosts Arkansas – Fort Smith at 7 p.m. at Bud Walton Arena. Admission is free.

STORYLINES

  • Arkansas will host UAFS for an exhibition for the second straight season. The Razorbacks defeated the Lions 114-55 last November
  • The Razorbacks were projected to finish fourth in the SEC Preseason Media Poll and tie for fifth in the Preseason Coaches Poll
  • Makayla Daniels was chosen as a SEC Preseason Second Team choice by the league’s head coaches
  • In his sixth season at the helm of his alma matter, Mike Neighbors is looking to continue the positive momentum he has built with this program, as the team is coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances (three if it hadn’t been for COVID-19) and four consecutive winning seasons
  • The Hogs are coming off an 18-14 record with a 7-9 SEC mark in 2021-22
  • Samara Spencer was tabbed the 2022 SEC Freshman of the Year, a first for the Razorbacks since 2009. She was also tabbed to the SEC All-Freshman Team with Jersey Wolfenbarger
  • The team was the 10th seed at the 2022 NCAA Tournament, falling to the Utes, 92-69
  • Arkansas returns three starters, including Daniels, Spencer and Wolfenbarger
  • Erynn Barnum started in 10 games, nine of which came in the beginning of the season before her injury. The senior was one of 20 power forwards in the country named to the Katrina McClain Preseason Watch List recently
  • After sitting out last season, Maryam Dauda and UConn transfer Saylor Poffenbarger will make their Arkansas debuts. The team also welcomes Syracuse transfer Chrissy Carr, as well as true freshmen Karley Johnson and Loren Lindsey

 SCOUTING UAFS

  • The Lions were projected to finish 12th in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll
  • Graduate transfer Aaliyah Prince was named to the LSC Preseason Team, having averaged 12.1 points per game for New Mexico State in 2020-21
  • Head coach Ryan McAdams is in his second year at the helm
  • UAFS is coming off a 7-18 season

 UPCOMING
The Razorbacks will officially open up the 2022-23 season on the road at UAPB on Monday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. in the confines of H.O. Clemons Arena.

PURCHASE SEASON TICKETS
The Razorback Ticket Center is taking orders both online and over the phone for season tickets. General admission season tickets are $45 and reserved seating tickets are $75. Single game tickets can be purchased online for $5 for adults and $3 for youth (17 and under).
