LAST TIME OUT
- No. 16 Arkansas (4-1, 0-0) got back into the win column on Thursday night, routing Louisiana Monroe (0-1, 0-0) 103-50.
- Arkansas’ 53-point win was its largest margin of victory since the Hogs beat Northwestern State last season by 60.
- It was also Arkansas’ first time over the century mark this season, and the sixth time reaching triple digits in the Neighbors’ era.
- A balanced Hog offense, that featured six different players in double figures, was led by redshirt senior guard Destiny Slocum, who scored a game-high 18 points. Slocum also pitched in with three assists and three rebounds.
- Redshirt sophomore Erynn Barnum had a career night against the Warhawks, going for 17 points, the most she’s ever scored in the Red & White. She also pulled down a season-high eight rebounds.
- Senior forward Taylah Thomas once again led the Hogs in rebounding, pulling down eight boards.
- Chelsea Dungee, Amber Ramirez and Makayla Daniels all got into double figures once again, going for 15, 11 and 11 points, respectively.
- Daniels led Arkansas in assists, dishing four of them.
- Sophomore Marquesha Davis also got back into double figures, scoring 15 points. She also had three steals, a team high.
- Freshman forward Destinee McGhee showed well in extended minutes, scoring a career-best six points while snaring three rebounds.
STORYLINES
- The Razorbacks have once again been great offensively, as they are averaging 95.8 points per game through five games played.
- That mark is good for 11th nationally. They are one of three teams in the top 15 to have played four or more games (Maryland & North Carolina are the other two).
- The Hogs have a plethora of options that can, as Coach Neighbors says, “Make the Defense Wrong”, as five different Hogs are currently averaging 10+ points (Dungee, Slocum, Daniels, Barnum and Ramirez).
- In each of the Razorbacks’ first five games, at least five different players have reached double-figures, while six players reached double digits against Wake Forest and ULM.
- Additionally, in four of five games, the Hogs have featured a different leading scorer.
- Coach Neighbors’ 2020-21 Hogs have been an offensive juggernaut so far this season, averaging 95.8 points per game over their first five games.
- Arkansas gets a lot of its offense from beyond the arc, where the Hogs are once again ranked among the elite. They have made 43 threes so far this season already, which is the fourth-best mark in the NCAA.
- They are hitting 8.6 of them a game, which is currently ranked 27th in the NCAA.
- Neighbors’ bunch has been the best team in the country at getting to the line and converting its chances – Arkansas is ranked first in the NCAA in both free throws made (116) and free throws attempted (159).
- The Hogs also played an incredibly efficient style last season, only turning the ball over 10.0 times a game on average, which is currently good for 12th in the NCAA.
- Head Coach Mike Neighbors’ team has a shot at achieving some pretty historic milestones if it can find a way to beat Baylor.
- It would be the Hogs’ first win against a defending national champion since Dec. 29, 1996, when they knocked off No. 6 Tennessee 77-75 in Bud Walton Arena.
- A win would also mark the first top-5 victory for Neighbors as the Head Hog.
- Arkansas last win vs. an opponent ranked in the top-5 came all the way back in 2003, when the Hogs knocked off No. 2 LSU 82-72 at Bud Walton Arena. The Hogs were ranked No. 10 at the time.
