Program-Record 10 Gymbacks Make SEC Winter Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – 10 Arkansas Razorback gymnastics athletes were named to the 2019-20 SEC Winter Honor Roll on Thursday morning, as announced by the conference office and SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. The Gymbacks were 10 of 34 Arkansas student-athletes named to the list.

10 honorees is the most in program history, with the previous record being nine Razorbacks. Arkansas has had at least four student-athletes named to the list every year with nine Hogs being honored three of the last four years. Since the program began in 2003, 127 Razorbacks have been named to the honor roll.

Those named to the 2019-20 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll include:

  • Savannah Pennese | Marketing
  • Sarah Shaffer | Marketing & Supply Chain Management Transportation Logistics
  • Jessica Yamzon | Human Development Family Science

Former Razorback and student manager Kirby Rathjen was also named to the Academic Honor Roll for her success in the classroom as a marketing major.

A total of 710 student-athletes were named to the 2019-20 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll. The 2019-20 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll includes the sports of basketball, equestrian, gymnastics and swimming & diving. It is based on grades from the 2019 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
