#ProHogs Open LPGA Schedule

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Former University of Arkansas All-Americans Stacy Lewis and Gabriela Lopez opened the 2016 LPGA Tour schedule this week at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic in Paradise Island, Bahamas, Thursday.

Lopez, who was in class at Arkansas last semester, finished sixth in the LPGA’s Qualifying School in December and earned her Tour card. She elected to forgo her final semester as a Razorback and is playing in her first event as a pro this week.

The Mexico City, Mexico, native posted a two-under 71 and is three strokes off the lead and tied for 17th overall in the field of 108 players. Lopez played the front nine three-under with birdies on the fifth, seventh and eighth holes. She gave one stroke back with a bogey on No. 10 and finished the round with eight consecutive par holes.

The first-year player hit seven of 14 fairways, averaged 256 yards on her drives and made 26 putts in the round.

Former Razorback Stacy Lewis finished round one even and is in the clubhouse tied for 49th overall. Lewis started well with a birdie on her first hole but bogeyed the second moving back to even.

The Woodlands, Texas, native notched the second of her three birdies on the seventh hole but again, gave the stroke back on the 12th hole. She picked up her final birdie on the par-four 14th hole but bogeyed No. 16 to remain even for the round.
