
Razorback Fans In 40+ States, 16 Foreign Countries Participate In ONE Hog Call Friday, Aug. 31
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – On Friday, Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. CST, fans all over the world – in 40-plus U.S. states, 16 foreign countries and beyond – dropped what they were doing and called the Hogs in unison to kick off the new year and show support for all Razorback student-athletes. The event marked the most widespread, simultaneous Hog Call in history.
Razorback fans answered the call to Call the Hogs, with approximately 1,250 fans attending university-sponsored events in Fayetteville and Little Rock, and thousands joining virtually and posting about the events on social media using #ONEHogCall.
Students in nearly 20 schools throughout Northwest Arkansas and dozens more across the state donned their Razorback red and called the Hogs together on their campuses, Also, dozens of area businesses rounded up their employees for the chance to have their Hog Call featured across Razorback social media and videoboards in Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium throughout the football season.
Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek led approximately 300 Fayetteville fans gathered at the Fayetteville Town Center Plaza in the Hog Call. Fans also enjoyed free Domino’s pizza, prize pack drawings and appearances by Razorback Spirit Squads and the Best in Sight and Sound Band. Downtown Fayetteville businesses competed to claim the award for best Hog Call.
Approximately 650 University of Arkansas students, faculty and staff gathered at the Greek Theatre on campus to join Chancellor Joseph Steinmetz, spirit squads, members of the Razorback football team and the Best in Sight and Sound Band to call the Hogs.
In Little Rock at War Memorial Stadium, approximately 300 fans came together and joined head men’s basketball coach Mike Anderson, Arkansas head women’s basketball coach Mike Neighbors, Arkansas head baseball coach Dave Van Horn, former Razorback student-athletes, Tusk and others for the festivities. Former Razorback and local radio host David Bazzel led the Hog Call for the group, who was also treated to free hot dogs, Razorback trivia and ticket giveaways.
