Razorbacks Move Up In Final Round
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Three players with par or better rounds helped the University of Arkansas women’s golf team move up one spot to a ninth-place finish at the Powerade Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, South Carolina, on Tuesday.
Junior Jordy LaBarbera’s final round 71, ties for the second-best round of her career along with her 74–74–71—219 total.
Sophomore Cara Gorlei finished as the Razorbacks’ leader tying for 27th overall. Gorlei shot 73–72–72—217 with four birdies and four bogeys in the final round.
Sophomore All-American Maria Fassi and junior Alana Uriell tied LaBarbera for 34th overall with the trio shooting 219. Fassi posted rounds of 72–75–72 while Uriell shot 76–68–75. Razorback newcomer Kaylee Benton rounded out the Arkansas scores shooting 74–74–80—228 and tying for 89th overall.
North Carolina won the event with a 26-under 838. Furman moved down one spot in the final round to second overall shooting 846, followed by Wake Forest with 851, Florida State with 855 and UCF with 856 rounding out the top five scores.
Arkansas returns home to prepare for the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Oct. 14-16, followed by the Alamo Invitational on Oct. 23-25, as the fall season continues.
