Razorbacks Return to Barnhill for Equality Meet with Tigers
The Gymbacks will be back on their home floor this weekend after two weeks on the road as No. 17 Arkansas hosts No. 15 Missouri for an SEC dual.
The Hogs are coming off a loss at Kentucky, while the Tigers pulled out an upset over Auburn last week. Both performances were historic for the two teams as Missouri recorded its first-ever Perfect 10 on vault with Jocelyn Moore, and Arkansas posted a new program vault record of 49.525.
The Hogs take on the Tigers at 7:45 p.m. from Barnhill Arena. The meet will also be broadcast live on SEC Network, with Bridget Sloan and John Roethlisberger on the call.
The contest will also serve as the program’s second annual Equality Meet, an evening celebrating fans of all races, abilities, genders, and sexual orientations, as well as an expression of commitment to the equal treatment and inclusion of all.
It’s also Alumni Night at Barnhill Arena, and the team will pay tribute to 21 seasons of Razorback Gymnastics.
Both season and single-meet tickers are still available online HERE or by phone (479-575-5151). Fans are encouraged to purchase single-meet tickets in advance for the best price. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Last Time Out
While a tough final rotation put a meet victory out of reach for the Gymbacks last Friday night, the team still had plenty of highlights in the SEC dual. The No. 11 Wildcats came away with a 197.875-195.400 victory over the No. 14 Hogs in team competition. Along the way, Arkansas recorded a new program high of 49.525 on vault, which included a perfect score. Sophomore Leah Smith nailed her Yurchenko full and stuck the landing for a 9.950 from both judges, the best possible mark for a vault of its kind, and she claimed a share of first place. The Gymbacks saw two perfect 10 scores thrown on the night. Sophomore Maddie Jones finished with a career high 9.950 on bars with a 9.900/10.000 split, good for a two-way tie for first. while redshirt freshman Frankie Price got a 9.950/10.000 split for a 9.975 on floor, which tied for first. The score is Arkansas’ best on floor since 2014, when it was recorded by 2014 NCAA floor champion Katherine Grable.
Scouting the Series: Missouri
- Friday’s competition will be the 31st-ever meeting between Missouri and Arkansas, and the Hogs currently have a 17-13 edge in the series, dating back to 2003
- The Tigers have only visited Fayetteville six times in regular season competition over the years, and Arkansas is 4-2 in those outings
- Missouri is coming off a huge dual victory over Auburn, in which Jocelyn Moore earned the Tigers’ first-ever Perfect 10 on vault and the team posted its fourth-best team score in program history, 197.450
