Razorbacks Set Records for Multi-Year and Single-Year Rates on APR Report Card

University of Arkansas APR Report

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Razorback student-athletes are once again setting records in the classroom. In numbers released by the NCAA on Tuesday, the University of Arkansas established program records in both multi-year and single-year Academic Progress Rate (APR).

APR is based on academic eligibility and retention of student-athletes in each athletic program. This report’s multiyear scores are based on the 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years.

The University of Arkansas sports programs averaged a record rate of 987.2 in the APR, marking the 12th-straight time the program average has exceeded 970 and the sixth straight time it has exceeded 980. The previous record average for Arkansas was 984.4 accomplished in the 2021-22 cohort. The average is based on the 17 APR scores released for the University of Arkansas. The NCAA combines APR scores for indoor and outdoor track and field.

For the 10th consecutive report, the University of Arkansas exceeds the benchmark APR multiyear rate of 930 in all 19 of its intercollegiate sport programs. All programs eclipsed the benchmark by at least 28 points with 15 programs besting the 930 benchmark by 47 points or more.

“As our program continues to achieve record athletics success, our more than 465 students are also establishing new standards in the classroom as well,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek said. “Congratulations to our remarkable student-athletes on this record-setting accomplishment. Just as they are on the field or court, our student-athletes are supported by a team in their academic endeavors. I am grateful to our coaches, staff, Razorback Foundation members who all help contribute to helping us achieve our mission of building champions and Razorbacks for life.”

Seven Razorback programs posted a perfect multi-year rate and earned APR Public Recognition Awards for ranking among the top 10 percent academically in their given sport. Men’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s golf, women’s gymnastics, women’s softball and women’s volleyball all earned a score of 1,000 for the four-year period. The seven programs earning an APR Public Recognition award tied a school record and increased the University of Arkansas’ total to 43 such recognitions since the program started.

Six programs increased their multi-year rate, led by football who increased its multi-year rate by 20 points from last year. In addition, men’s basketball (+16), men’s track and field (+8), women’s basketball (+7), soccer (+7) and baseball (+5) also saw improvements in APR multiyear rates. Seven additional programs maintained their APR multi-year rates from the previous year.

Arkansas posted a program record single-year average rate of 991.1 for all 19 programs. It marked the first time the single-year rate eclipsed 990. The previous program-best was a single-year average of 989.7 in 2021-22. Nine programs recorded a perfect 1,000 single-year APR rate (men’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s golf, women’s gymnastics, women’s softball, women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis and women’s volleyball).

In 2023-24, a total of 82 Razorback student-athletes are eligible to participate in commencement ceremonies in either the fall or the spring. Arkansas is also on pace for a 100% Razorback Graduation Rate, which is based on student-athletes who complete their athletics eligibility and earn their degree.
