Razorbacks, Todd in First After Round 2 at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – No. 2 Arkansas women’s golf remained in first place at the Darius Rucker Invitational after shooting a 1-over par 285 in the second round.
Senior Kendall Todd holds a one-shot lead over South Carolina’s Louise Rydqvist. Todd finished the first round in first at 3-under par.
The Hogs showed improvement from day one with three less strokes, but jumped up and down the leaderboard throughout today’s round.
The Gamecocks overtook first place by three strokes with four holes left via a sudden onslaught of birdies, but suffered a double-bogey and two bogeys on Nos. 17 and 18.
Thanks to solid scores from Todd (72), Reagan Zibilski (72), Maria José Marin (69) and Clarisa Temelo (72), the Razorbacks were able to maintain their lead.
José Marin, who was placed on the ANNIKA Award Watch List earlier this week, shot her fourth round in the 60s this spring and had the second best round of the day. The sophomore moved up 30 spots on the leaderboard and is five shots off of Todd’s lead.
The field battled rainy weather and wind gusts up to 27 mph throughout the day and similar conditions are expected in the final round on Wednesday.
