Razorbacks Usher In Holidays With 'Photo Day'
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – More than 400 Razorback fans recently had the Uncommon experience of having their picture taken in a festive setting at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium during the inaugural Holiday Photo Day event.
Open to season ticket holders, Razorback Foundation members, as well as Razorback Athletics staff and their families, Holiday Photo Day on Oct. 29 fulfilled the community’s desire to have open access to the world-class athletic facilities at the University of Arkansas.
“With our facilities being the best in the nation, our fans will want to see behind the scenes and be on the field and the court,” said Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Sales Charlie Arviso. “This was an opportunity for us to give access to a large group and build it around a theme of a holiday picture.”
Arviso said all it took to attend the free event was for Razorback fans to send in an RSVP, arrive at DWRRS dressed in their favorite Razorback or holiday-themed attire and have their photo taken at midfield with a professional photographer.
Additional stations were also made available for fans to take personal pictures using their own mobile devices. Big Red, Sue E, Pork Chop and Tusk were also on hand to help bring in the holidays in proper Razorback fashion.
The pictures were then individually emailed for the attendees to enjoy, use as holiday card inserts or social media posts.
“Having access to the field was the biggest thrill for most of our season ticket holders and all of the feedback we’ve received so far has been to that point,” Arviso said. “We got good feedback from fans and we learned some new things, so next year we’ll make it bigger and better. I think we’ll have some more success next year.”
When asked about the event, some Razorback season ticket holders and Foundation members who attended Holiday Photo Day said they appreciated the access and hoped it would soon become an annual event.
“We enjoyed doing this with both of our children and grandchildren,” David Bahn and Tracy Bahn said. “Thank you for allowing us to do this. We hope you do it again.”
Pete Opper, a Razorback Foundation member, agreed with the Bahn family.
“Thank you for putting on this event. We really enjoyed it and appreciate the awesome photos. I hope you can do more events like this in the future.”
