SEC Championships Up Next for Gymbacks

The Gymbacks kick off their postseason this weekend with the SEC Gymnastics Championships in Tulsa.

Arkansas has been seeded sixth and will compete in the afternoon session of the event at 2 p.m. at the BOK Center on Saturday, March 21. The Gymbacks will take on No. 5 Georgia, No. 7 Missouri, No. 8 Auburn and No. 9 Kentucky.

The afternoon’s session will be stiff competition, with the five, six, and seven seeds separated by just 1.194 in team NQS. Arkansas and Missouri alone are .001 apart in the rankings with team NQS of 197.192 and 197.191, respectively. The Gymbacks lead the pack on beam with the highest NQS of the five teams on the event at 49.317, and have a matching NQS on vault, which puts them in second among the teams.

At Arkansas’ last SEC Championships in 2024, the Gymbacks placed sixth of eight teams and set a new team score record for SECs with a 197.050. Arkansas also set new SEC highs on bars (49.250) and beam (49.450). The Gymbacks’ highest placement at an SEC Championships came in 2011, where Arkansas finished fourth at the event in Birmingham, Ala.

With five teams participating in the afternoon session, each will take a bye between vault and bars. The Gymbacks will start their day on vault, take their bye, and conclude the competition on bars, beam and floor.

The top four seeds – No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Florida and No. 4 Alabama – will compete in the evening session at 7 p.m. SEC titles will be comprised of individual scores from both sessions combined, and All-SEC honors will be given to the top four scores on each event and all-around, including ties, from each session. All-SEC Freshman nods will go to the top freshman score on each event and all-around from each session.

Competition b will be broadcast live on SEC Network with live scoring provided by Virtius.
