Stovall Picked as Preseason SEC Freshman of the Year by Baseball America
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas infielder Peyton Stovall has been picked as the preseason SEC Freshman of the Year by Baseball America.
The Razorback infielder enters his true freshman campaign with tons of hype after arriving at Arkansas as the top prospect in the state of Louisiana, according to Prep Baseball Report. The Haughton, La., native was ranked by Perfect Game as the top shortstop in Louisiana and the No. 2 overall prospect in the state.

Stovall, who was also tabbed the preseason SEC Freshman of the Year by D1Baseball, is expected to play first base for the Razorbacks this season. He was a projected first-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, but withdrew his name in order to attend Arkansas.
The Hogs open the 2022 campaign – their 100th season of competition – against Illinois State on Feb. 18-20 at Baum-Walker Stadium.
