Three Razorbacks in U.S. Women's Open Field

ERIN, Wis. – Three Arkansas Razorbacks will be among the field of 156 at the 80th U.S. Women’s Open Championship from May 29-June 1 at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin.

Current sophomore Maria José Marin accepted the final spot after her 12-under individual win at the NCAA Championship last week. This will be the Colombia native’s first major championship appearance.

ProHogs Maria Fassi and Gaby Lopez are no strangers to the U.S. Open and will make their sixth and 11th appearances, respectively.

Fassi first played in the U.S. Open as an amateur in 2015 and has made the cut one time in five starts. The 2019 NCAA Champion’s highest finish at the event came just weeks after winning the NCAA title. She finished at 1-under and tied for 12th place. Fassi has only played in two LPGA events this season and made the cut at last week’s MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba.

Lopez got her first start at the U.S. Open in 2012 as an amateur and has made the cut four times in 10 starts. In 2016, Lopez shot a 1-under 287 and tied for 11th place for her highest finish at the event. The Mexico City native is ranked No. 29 in the Rolex Rankings and has three top 10 LPGA finishes this season.

NBCUniversal (NBC, USA Network, Peacock) will provide live coverage of all four rounds of the 80th U.S. Women’s Open Championship. The third and fourth rounds will be carried live on NBC.
