Trench Hogs Honored ... Again

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After helping pave the way for a season-best 299 yards rushing from his right tackle position in Arkansas’ 31-14 win at No. 9 LSU, junior Dan Skipper has been named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.

Skipper is the third member of the nation’s largest offensive line to be honored with the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week award this season, joining seniors Sebastian Tretola (Oct. 5) and Mitch Smothers (Nov. 2). Arkansas is the only SEC team to have three different offensive lineman honored with the weekly award this season.

The three SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week awards have come over Arkansas’ last six games in which it has rushed for over 200 yards four times, including three in SEC action. Making his 31st straight start on the offensive line, Skipper earned a team-best 86 percent grade for his performance this past weekend at LSU, as the Razorbacks ran the ball on 40 of 56 offensive snaps. The 299 yards rushing marked Arkansas’ most rushing yards in an SEC game since it had 385 during a win at LSU in 2007. Junior running back Alex Collins surpassed 100 yards for an SEC-leading eighth time this season, while three different players broke runs of 25-plus yards in the win.

Arkansas has rushed for over 200 yards in five of six SEC games this season, which is a league high, and ranks second in rushing yards (204.3) per game in league action. The Razorbacks lead the SEC in scoring in league games at 32.3 points per contest and are second in total offense.

Riding the program’s longest win streak since 2011 at four games, Arkansas returns to Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium for its final two games of the regular season starting with No. 25 Mississippi State on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. on ESPN.

Tickets are still available for Saturday’s game against Mississippi State and can be purchased on ArkansasRazorbacks.com or by calling 1-800-982-HOGS.
