Wildcats Up Next for Razorbacks on Equality Night
The No. 16 Arkansas gymnastics team is finally back home after four meets on the road and has a big challenge with No. 6 Kentucky coming to town.
Arkansas’ last two regular season home meets will be hosted at Bud Walton Arena, so the last at Barnhill Arena this season is sure to be big. The Wildcats are currently in a tie for first place in the SEC at 4-1, while the Razorbacks are tied with Alabama for second place in the conference with a 2-2-1 record.
Friday’s meet is the team’s third annual Equality Night, which celebrates fans of all races, abilities, religion, genders and sexual orientations, as well as an expression of our commitment to the equal treatment and inclusion of all.
Both the Star-Spangled Banner and Lift Every Voice and Sing will be performed to commemorate Black History Month and Equality Night, and both the Alpha Phi Alpha and Phi Beta Sigma fraternities will close out the night with a step show. The first 500 fans will get a bag of Stuffed Puffs stuffed marshmallows at the door, and the first 1,000 will receive a “Together” equality wristband.
Team intros begin at 7:15 p.m. CT with first vault at 7:30. Tickets are available online, in-person or by phone via Razorback Ticket Center, and the meet will also be broadcast live on SEC Network.
Scouting the Series: Kentucky
- While Arkansas has the advantage in the all-time series with Kentucky at 25-16, the Gymbacks have not defeated the Wildcats in regular season action since 2016, which also came in Fayetteville
- Arkansas’ first-ever program win came over Kentucky in the team’s inaugural season, on Feb. 7, 2003
- The two teams are the closest-matched on floor, in which the Wildcats sit at No. 3 with a 49.518 average, and the Razorbacks are ranked 9th with a 49.450 average
