Williams Named SEC Co-Specialist of the Week
After another solid outing for the No. 12 Gymbacks, sophomore Lauren Williams has been named SEC Co-Specialist of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Williams, a Rogers, Ark., native, delivered two big routines for Arkansas on Sunday with matching scores of 9.925 on vault and floor. The mark was good for her sixth vault title of the season and a share of third place on floor.
Lauren currently holds a 9.910 NQS on vault, which leads Arkansas and ties for 13th in the country. Her 9.945 NQS on floor is the second-highest among Gymbacks and also tied for 13th nationally. She has scored 9.900+ on floor in nine of 10 meets and 9.900+ on vault five times and is on a five-meet streak of marks of 9.925+ on floor.
The SEC honor is Arkansas’ first of the season, and first Specialist of the Week designation since Maggie O’Hara in 2021. Williams has one other conference weekly award in her career, as she was named Freshman of the Week on Jan. 31, 2023. She shares this one with Alabama’s Jamison Sears and LSU’s Savannah Schoenherr.
