Women’s Golf Set to Play at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

FAYETTEVILLE – The Arkansas women’s golf team’s schedule does not lighten up, as the Razorbacks are set to play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, starting tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 27 continuing on to Wednesday, March 1. The three rounds of play will take place at Long Cove Club with the tournament being hosted by SEC foe South Carolina. Tournament play will also be broadcast on the Golf Channel.

The tournament features a loaded field of 18 teams, 16 of which are within the top 50 in the latest Golfstat rankings. Six of the field’s teams are top 10 squads, including 2022 NCAA Runner-Up Oregon.

Following a successful tournament to commence the spring season, Kajal Mistry is in the No. 1 spot for the Razorbacks. Mistry is coming off a season-low 8-under 208 (70-69-69) at the Moon Golf Invitational to finish the tournament in a tie for fifth. She ties for a team’s best seven rounds at par or under, while logging a 73.07 scoring average this year.

Miriam Ayora is No. 2 in the lineup, continuing a solid season she started in the fall. Ayora tallied an even 216 (70-72-74) at the Moon Golf Invitational to round out in a tie for 32nd. She leads the team with a 72.47 scoring average, as well as a tying for a team’s best seven rounds at par or better.

Freshman Meghan Royal is playing in the No. 3 spot at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. She is coming off a tie for 32nd at the Moon Golf Invitational after finishing the tournament with an even 216 (72-72-72), three straight rounds at par. Last week’s tournament was her first in the lineup in her young college career.

Giovanna Fernandez is No. 4 in the lineup and coming off a 1-over 217 finish (75-71-71) at the Moon Golf Invitational. Her third-round performance was the most impressive, as she logged a bogey-free round to move up 15 spots to finish in a tie for 42nd.

Back in the lineup, Kendall Todd will play in the No. 5 spot. Her last tournament was at the Battle at the Beach, where she led the Razorbacks with an even 213 (70-71-72). Todd is the No. 80 player in the NCAA, according to Golfstat.

Arkansas is coming off a seventh-place showing at the Moon Golf Invitational to commence the spring season. The team finished a season-low 9-under 855, which was also the first time this year Arkansas has completed a tournament under par. Arkansas is No. 31 in the most recent Golfstat rankings, as well as No. 26 in the Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll.

TOURNAMENT NOTES

This marks the Razorbacks’ 10 appearance at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. Arkansas has played at the tournament all but two years in the past 10 seasons. Last year at the tournament, Arkansas finished in ninth place out of 17 teams with a 34-over 884 (295-294-295), led by Mistry’s 2-over 215 (73-72-70).

UP NEXT

Arkansas will next play at the MountainView Collegiate at the MountainView Golf Course in Tucson, Arizona from Friday, March 17 to Sunday, March 19. Mistry won that tournament a year ago.
