#15 Arkansas Takes Care of Business at Ole Miss
OXFORD, Miss. – Trevon Brazile made two clutch 3-pointers late in the first half and two late in the second half while Darius Acuff Jr. scored 26 points with nine assists and Bill Richmond III did not miss a shot to lead #15 Arkansas to a 94-87 victory at Ole Miss Wednesday night at The Pavilion.
Arkansas used two runs in the first half to lead by 10 at the break. In the second, Arkansas never relinquished the lead but also just steadily kept the Rebels at bay.
Brazile hit 3-pointers with 5:07 left and 4:20 left to put the Hogs up 13 (88-75. However, the Rebels did use a 7-0 run inside the final minutes to work their deficit to six (88-82). A 3-pointer by Koren Johnson with 1:59 remaining and a 3-pointer by Ilias Kamardine with 1:01 got the Rebels to within four twice.
Acuff made a floater in the lane with 35 seconds left and Brazile wade a free throw with 24 seconds left to provide the 94-87 final.
Acuff only had six first-half points on 3-of-8 shooting with three assists. In the second half, Acuff took over with 20 points, making 11-of-12 free throws, with six assists.
Brazile finished with 18 points (4-of-7 from 3-point) with six rebounds. Richmond was 5-of-5 from the field, 1-of-1 from 3-point and 2-of-2 at the line in scoring 13 points. Meleek Thomas added 13 points and Karter Knox scored 10.
Ole Miss was led by Malik Dia and Kamardine, each with 16 points.
Arkansas stays on the road to play at Auburn on Saturday (Jan. 10). Tipoff is set for 5 pm and the game will be televised on ESPN.
FIRST HALF: ARK: 42 – OM: 32
- Arkansas scored first but Ole Miss took a 6-4 lead with 15:36.
- From that point, Arkansas went on an 11-0 run to lead 15-6.
- The Hogs continued to play well as it had 7 assists on its first 10 baskets made, shooting 50% from the field.
- Ole Miss cut its deficit to two (32-30 with 3:32 left. Meleek Thomas got Arkansas back on track with a floater on the right baseline.
- Arkansas ended the first half on an 8-0 run to lead 42-32.
- Trevon Brazile made 3-pointers with 48 seconds left and with eight seconds left to spur the 8-0 run.
- Brazile and Thomas each scored 10 points to lead the Hogs.
- Arkansas shot 55% from the field with 12 assists on 17 made baskets.
- Ole Miss was led by Ilias Kamardine’s 10 points.
SECOND HALF: ARK: 52 – OM: 55
- Arkansas shot 48.3% for the period and was 19-of-26 at the free throw line.
- Ole Miss shot 59.4%.
- Arkansas out-rebounded Ole Miss, 20-12, in the half.
- Eduardo Klafke did not miss a shot in the second half for Ole Miss. He led the Rebs with 11 points (4-of-4 FG • 1-of-1 3PT • 2-of-2 FT).

- Arkansas’ starting lineup was Darius Acuff Jr., D.J. Wagner, Karter Knox, Trevon Brazile and Nick Pringle for the 10th-straight game.
- Trevon Brazile scored the game’s first points, a dunk off a steal at 19:21.
- Arkansas’s first subs were Malique Ewin, Billy Richmond III and Meleek Thomas. It was the fourth time the trio all came off the bench together.
- Arkansas snapped a 3-game losing streak to Ole Miss.
- This was the 89th meeting between Arkansas and Ole Miss. Arkansas owns a 53-36 advantage all-time in the series but the Rebels are 21-1 versus the Hogs in Oxford.
- Since Arkansas joined the SEC, the Razorbacks took a one-game lead in the series, 31-30. Arkansas has won 10 of the last 14 in the series.
- Coach Cal now has 889 on-court wins and is 11 shy of reaching 900 wins as head coach of an NCAA Division I program.
