History Lesson
Arkansas is 51-38 overall against South Carolina, including an even 18-18 record in Columbia, S.C. Under head coach Dave Van Horn, the Razorbacks are 35-24 overall and 14-10 in games played in Columbia against the Gamecocks.
The Hogs have won five consecutive regular season series against the Gamecocks (2018, 2021, 2023, 2024 & 2025), including road weekend series at Founders Park in 2021 and 2024. Arkansas has not lost a series played on the road in Columbia since being swept by South Carolina on March 18-20, 2016, during SEC Opening Weekend.
Arkansas swept South Carolina in last season’s weekend series inside the friendly confines of Baum-Walker Stadium. The Razorbacks have swept the Gamecocks in Columbia only once before, accomplishing the feat during the 2013 campaign.
The Situation in Soda City
Arkansas enters this weekend’s series against South Carolina looking to secure a three-game series sweep to improve to 5-1 through its first six SEC games for the third consecutive season, and sixth time in the last seven full seasons. The Razorbacks previously started 5-1 through their first six league games in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025.
Arkansas’ most recent 4-2 start through its first six conference games of a season came in 2023. That year, the Hogs swept Auburn (3-0) at Baum-Walker Stadium on SEC Opening Weekend before a series loss on the road at LSU (1-2).
It Just Means More Wins
Entering the 2026 campaign, Arkansas has won 18 or more SEC games in eight consecutive seasons. LSU is the only other program in SEC history to record at least eight consecutive seasons of 18 or more SEC victories (10 from 1996-2005).
Additionally, Arkansas has started 8-4 or better in SEC play for eight consecutive seasons. Arkansas’ streak is the best stretch of starting 8-4 or better in SEC play by a team since LSU did so in eight consecutive seasons from 1991-98.
The Razorbacks have finished with 20 or more SEC wins in a season six times in program history, including five times in the Dave Van Horn era (2003-pres.). Arkansas (2023-25), one of three teams in SEC history along with Tennessee (1993-95) and LSU (1996-98) to reach the 20-win mark in league play in three consecutive seasons, has won 20 or more games in conference play in five of the last six seasons, making them the only team in league history to accomplish the feat.
