Acuff 1 of 25 on Wooden Award Midseason Watch List
FAYETTEVILLE – Razorback freshman Darius Acuff Jr. is on the Wooden Award midseason watch list, as named by the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
Selected by a midseason poll of national college basketball experts, the list comprises 25 student-athletes who are frontrunners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball: the Wooden Award All-American Team™ and the Wooden Award® Most Outstanding Player.
After his 26-point, 9-assist performance at Ole Miss on Wednesday, Acuff now ranks 35th in the NCAA in scoring (19.9) and 22nd in assists (6.2). Among NCAA freshmen, he ranks second in assists and fourth in scoring.
Acuff, who is the only Razorback to score in double digits in all 15 games this season, has scored 20-plus points in five of his last six games and eight times this season. He has also dished out 5-plus assists 11 times this season.
Acuff, with teammate D.J. Wagner, were two of 50 players named to the Wooden Award preseason watch list. Acuff has won the SEC Freshman of the Week four straight weeks and was named the Naismith National Player of the Week for his play versus James Madison and Tennessee.
