Acuff Named 1st Team All-America by The Sporting News
FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas freshman Darius Acuff was selected first team All-America by The Sporting News, it was announced today.
He joins Corliss Williamson (1995) as the only Razorbacks to be named first team All-America by The Sporting News.
Acuff, the unanimous SEC Player of the Year, is on pace to join Pete Maravich (1969-70) as the only players to lead the SEC in both scoring and assists. Also, Acuff:
- is the only player in the NCAA to average at least 20 points (22.1) and 6 assists (6.43).
• tallied 20+ points and 5+ assists 16 games this season, the most by a DI player this season. The next closest high-major players are SMU’s Boopie Miller (12) and Texas Tech’s Christian Anderson (12). - has five games this season with at least 20 pts & 10 assists, the second most by a freshman in NCAA history behind Oklahoma’s Trae Young with 11 in 2017-18.
- according to OptaSTATS, is the only player in NCAA history to put up the following in a season: 20.0+ PPG (22.20) || ^ 5.0+ APG (6.43) || ^ 40.0+ 3P% (43.7%) || ^ 3.00+ A/TO ratio (3.22),
