Arkansas closes out SEC Championships with award-winning performances

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Arkansas swim and dive completed the final day of the SEC Championship with a tenth-place team finish and one event on the podium.

 

Swimmers Bella Cothern, Alessia Ferraguti, Andrea Sansores, and Kobie Melton secured a third-place finish in the 400-freestyle relay with a time of 3:13.60. It was the Razorbacks’ first podium finish at SECs since 2021, in which Peyton Palsha finished third in the 500-Freestyle.

 

Graduate student Alessia Ferraguti swam a personal-best of 2:09.27 to finish fifth in the 200-breaststroke final for another top 10 mark for Arkansas. Graduate Vanessa Herrmann placed within the top 15 with a time of 2:10.73 for 13th.

 

In the 100-freestyle final, graduate student Kobie Melton came in 14th with a time of 48.75, while junior Bella Cothern checked in just behind at 48.77, a new personal best and good for 17th place.

  • Cothern, Ferraguti, Sansores, and Melton took bronze in the 400-freestyle relay with a time of 3:13.60.
  • Cothern recorded a personal best of 48.77 in the 100-freestyle final for 17th place.
  • Ferraguti swam a personal-best of 2:09.27 and finished fifth in the 200-breaststroke final.
  • Freshman Sydney Craft posted a 16:43.25 in 1650-freestyle, which was a personal best.
  • Junior Bradi Jones clocked a 2:15.44 in the 200-breaststroke preliminary, a new best for her.
  • Freshman Allie Thome timed a personal best of 2:18.93 in the 200-breaststroke preliminary.
