Arkansas gains two top-five finishes in day two

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS. – Arkansas swimming and diving had another successful outing as the Hogs finished day two of the SEC Championships with two top-five finishes.

The Razorbacks came in fourth in the 200-freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.34 while graduate student Andrea Sansores also placed fourth in the 50-freestyle final with a time of 21.97.

Arkansas also collected multiple individual highs on the day. Swimmers Claire Rumzie, Reilly Shaner, and Hannah Hall all had personal bests in the 50 freestyle preliminary heats. Rumzie and Shaner both clocked marks of 23.46, while Hall posted a time of 23.83. Graduate students Alessia Ferraguti and Vanessa Herrmann had personal bests in the 200 individual medley, in which Ferraguti posted a 1:58.58 and Herrmann with a 1:59.38.

Martinez finished 21st and scored 240.95, and Walker closed out at 23rd place with a 238.75 in the one-meter dive.

Head Coach Neil Harper: “Another great day for the hogs today. The 200 free relay finished 4th and an NCAA A cut! That foursome of Alessia, Andrea, Bella and Kobie were fabulous and so close to medaling. That relay will compete again at NCAAs so that’s exciting! Alessia and Vanessa both had personal bests and finals swims in the 200 IM. Kobie, Bella and Andrea all finaled in the 50 free with Andrea going under the 22-second barrier to finish 4th in the A final.

  • Swimmers Bella Cothern, Alessia Ferraguti, Andrea Sansores, and Kobie Melton placed fourth in the 200-freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.34.
  • Graduate Students Alessia Ferraguti and Vanessa Herrmann finished in the top-25 in the 200-Individual medley final, Ferraguti finished 21st and Herrmann finished 24th.
  • Freshman Sydney Craft posted a personal-best of 4:51.91 in the 500 freestyle event.
  • Freshman Brianna Cottingham swam a personal-best of 5:07.32 in the 500-freestyle event.
  • Sophomore Rebecca Simpson timed a personal-best of 4:56.93 in the 500-freestyle event.
  • Sansores finished the night with a fourth-place finish in the 50-freestyle final with a time of 21.97.
  • Swimmers Claire Rumzie and Reilly Shaner posted the same personal-best of 23.46 in the 50 freestyle event.
  • Swimmer Hannah Hall posted a time of 23.83 also a personal-best in the 50-freestyle event.
