Bronze medal finish for Rachel Glenn in SEC high jump

LEXINGTON – Rachel Glenn added third-place points to Arkansas’ team total on Friday at the SEC Championships, clearing 6 feet, 1.5 inches (1.87) for bronze in the high jump.

Teammate Sydney Billington placed eighth in the high jump, clearing 5-10 (1.78), as the Razorbacks collected seven points.

Mackenzie Rogers finished seventh in the 3,000m steeplechase with a career best of 10:10.62 that ranks No. 11 on the UA all-time list. Funminiyi Olajide scored one point by placing eighth in the long jump with a mark of 19-10.25 (6.05).

Georgia leads team scoring through eight of 21 events with 50 points, followed by Alabama (38), Texas A&M (37), Florida (29), and Arkansas (26).

Qualifying races for Saturday finals had the Razorbacks advancing four athletes in two events. The group included Olivia Pielemeier in the 1,500m, along with the trio of Kaylyn Brown, Sanaria Butler and Rosey Effiong in the 400m.

Brown led the 400m field with a 51.07 while Butler set a career best of 51.40 and Effiong won her heat in 52.17. Pielemeier posted a time of 4:19.95, which was seventh best among the field.

Additional Razorbacks in the 400m prelims included Joanne Reid (10th – 52.29), Kayla Davis (16th – 53.01), and Amirah Sharpe (17th – 53.05).

In the 100m hurdles, Simone Ballard (13.20) and Shania Myers (13.32) were 10th and 14th overall as 13.13 was the last time qualifier for the final. Shawnti Jackson ran in the 100m prelims, placing 13th overall with an 11.45.
