Brooks Honored For Texas Relays Performance

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas redshirt junior Taliyah Brooks has been selected as the Southeastern Conference Field Athlete of the Week, following her program record-breaking performance in the heptathlon at the Texas Relays this past weekend in Austin, Texas.

Brooks was the top collegiate performer in the event after two days of competition with a final score of 6,075 points. She currently leads the NCAA and sits a No. 2 on the world performance list.

The Wichita Falls, Texas native, now owns four Razorback program records including the pentathlon, the indoor and outdoor long jump. With a strong heptathlon mark in hand, Brooks will shift her focus towards open competition in the high hurdles, long jump and high jump.

The Razorbacks will travel to Waco, Texas this weekend to compete at the Baylor Invitational on Saturday, April 8. Arkansas’ next home competition, the John McDonnell Invitational will take place in two weeks at John McDonnell Field and will feature a kid’s race prior to the start of running events on Saturday, April 22.
