Chadwick, Gregory, Harter Earn SEC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference announced its 2019 Indoor Track & Field Awards with Arkansas’ Lance Harter, Payton Chadwick, and Lauren Gregory each receiving honors, as voted on by the league’s 15 head coaches.

On the women’s side, award recipients include Arkansas’ Payton Chadwick (Runner of the Year); Florida’s Yanis David (Field Athlete of the Year); Arkansas’ Lauren Gregory (Freshman Runner of the Year); Auburn’s Madi Malone (Freshman Field Athlete of the Year); and Arkansas’ Lance Harter (Coach of the Year).

It was previously announced that Arkansas’ Gabe Moore and Taylor Werner were named the Men’s and Women’s Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Chadwick helped lead Arkansas to the SEC women’s title by becoming the first Razorback to win the 60 Hurdles. She also finished runner-up in the 200 meters and split 53.04 in the 4×400-meter relay. Chadwick tallied 19.25 total points at the SEC Championships.

Gregory captured the SEC title in the mile, running 4:39.50 to lead a Razorback sweep in the event. Gregory holds the No. 6 time in the NCAA this season at 4:32.92. That is also the top time by a freshman in 2019 and ranks No. 4 in Arkansas program history. This is the second-time in Gregory’s career that she has been named SEC Freshman of the Year joining her honor from 2017 SEC Cross Country.

Harter guided Arkansas to its ninth all-time SEC Indoor Championship and fifth in a row by scoring 151 total team points. This is the 36th-time in Harter’s career that he has earned SEC Coach of the Year honors.
