
Competition At NCAA Championships Conclude
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Three Arkansas swimmers wrapped up competition from the NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
To start the final day of action, senior Mary Margaret Soderberg finished 37th in the 200 breast in 2:11.80, touching in the third fastest time on the team this season. She owns the top-four times by a Razorback swimmer this season in the event.
In the 200 fly, junior Chelsea Tatlow placed 30th with a time of 1:57.29, the second fastest by a Razorback this season. The Columbia, Missouri, native possesses the top-four times on the team this season.
To finish things off, freshman Ayumi Macias touched 36th in the 1650 free in the second-fastest time on the team this season, 16:20.31. The distance swimmer now has the top-three times on the team.
Earlier in the week, in her first ever appearance at the championships, Macias swam to a 21st-place finish in the 500 freestyle, touching in a personal-best 4:40.92. After swimming the second-fastest time ever by an Arkansas swimmer, she now owns two of the top five in school history and the top-five on the team this season on the team in the event. A day later, Macias notched her second personal best of the week with a 47th-place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:47.64. With the fastest time on the team this season, Macias holds the top-two times by an Arkansas swimmer and three of the top four.
Soderberg also set a personal best during the week in the 100 breaststroke, touching 49th in 1:01.98. Her time was the third fastest on the team this year.
ESPNU will air a two-hour broadcast via tape delay at 7 p.m. Eastern time, Tuesday, March 28.
Arkansas ended the regular season with 5-3 dual-meet record and a 1-3 record in conference action. With four non-conference dual meet wins this season, the Razorbacks extended their non-conference winning streak to 26 consecutive meets.
