Foutch Named to NCBWA Preseason Stopper of the Year Watch List
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas right-hander Christian Foutch has been named to the preseason watch list for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top reliever in college baseball.
Foutch, one of 76 pitchers named to the initial watch list, turned in a strong sophomore campaign in 2024, making 20 appearances in relief for the Hogs. He posted a 1-0 record with a 0.81 ERA, 20 strikeouts and one save in 22.1 innings.
The Littleton, Colo., native, who has earned preseason All-America honors from the NCBWA as well as preseason All-SEC recognition from the league’s 16 head coaches, allowed only two runs all of last year, finishing the season with the lowest ERA by a Razorback pitcher to appear in at least 20 percent of the team’s games since Kevin Kopps, who won the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award in 2021, recorded a 0.90 ERA in 89.2 innings over 33 outings in 2021.
Arkansas opens the season with a four-game series, including an Opening Day doubleheader, against Washington State this weekend at Baum-Walker Stadium. First pitch in game one is scheduled for noon Friday, Feb. 14, on SEC Network+.
