Hogs, Bruins Clash in Tuesday Night Elimination Game in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. – The Razorbacks are still in must-win mode at the College World Series.

Arkansas (49-14) plays UCLA (48-17) in an elimination game at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Charles Schwab Field Omaha. Karl Ravech (play-by-play), Kyle Peterson (analyst), Eduardo Perez (analyst) and Kris Budden (field) will call the game on ESPN.

Arkansas lost to LSU, 4-1, Saturday before defeating Murray State, 3-0, Monday behind Gage Wood’s legendary 19-strikeout, nine-inning no-hitter — the third in College World Series history. UCLA, meanwhile, beat Murray State, 6-4, Saturday before losing to LSU, 9-5, Tuesday.

The loser of Tuesday’s game between the Hogs and Bruins is eliminated from the College World Series. The winner will advance to play LSU at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, on ESPN.

History Lesson
Entering Tuesday’s matchup in Omaha, Arkansas is 0-2 all-time against UCLA. The previous two meetings occurred in Fayetteville during the 1999 campaign. The Hogs have never faced off against the Bruins in the Dave Van Horn era

Four Wins in Four Days
Since the NCAA adopted the existing College World Series format in 2003, only Oregon State (2006 & 2018) and South Carolina (2010) have advanced to the championship series after falling into the losers bracket before their second game.

Only the 2006 Oregon State team did what Arkansas is attempting to do by winning four games in four days. The 2010 South Carolina team won four games in five days, while the 2018 Oregon State team won four games in six days while navigating through the losers bracket.
