Hogs drop road test at #7 Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 20 Arkansas ran into a red-hot No. 7 Florida team on Saturday night inside Exactech Arena, losing 111-77.

The two teams battled back-and-forth through the opening minutes with the Razorbacks holding a 16-11 following a Darius Acuff Jr. jumper with 14:28 left in the half. The Gators responded with a 12-0 run and never looked back. The Hogs struggled from the floor much of the night, including the first half when the team shot just 35% with 1-for-6 from 3-point range.

Florida dominated the paint, outscoring Arkansas 56-44 and outrebounding the Hogs 51-31. The Razorbacks struggled shooting the ball in all phases, shooting 40.0% (30-75) from the field, 30.8% (4-13) from the 3-point line and 54.2% (13-24) from the free throw line. Florida, however, shot 56.5% (39-69) from the floor while making 8-of-19 (42.1%) 3-pointers and 25-of-32 (78.1%) from the free throw line.

Billy Richmond III led the Hogs with 22 points, his fifth straight game with 20+ points. Acuff finished with 17 points and six assists. DJ Wagner added 15 points off the bench and Meleek Thomas chipped in 10 points.

The Gators clinched at least a share of the Southeastern Conference regular season title with the win. Thomas Haugh led the home team with 22 points with fellow front court mate Alex Condon scoring 17 points. Big man Rueben Chinyelu recorded a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds as seven different Gators scored at least 11 points.

Arkansas returns home for the season finale at Bud Walton Arena on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. against rival Texas.
