Hogs Host Hornets In Final Exhibition Tune-Up
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback men’s basketball team will close out its 2016-17 preseason on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. as Division II member Emporia State visits Bud Walton Arena for the final exhibition contest of the season.
The Opponent
A member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, the Hornets were picked to finish 11th in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll.
Emporia State lost its two best scorers and top four rebounders from a team that went 13-16 (10-12) last season and finished 10th in the conference. The Hornets will rely on five seniors this season, who had a combined 133 starts, as well as sophomore Brandon Hall who is the top returning scorer from last season.
What Coach Anderson is Saying
“We didn’t shoot the ball particularly well in the first exhibition so I look for us to have significant improvement in that area. One constant that we always talk about is our defense. Our defense being on par, which means guys coming in and starting the game off with that mindset. Coming off the bench, whether they maintain it or uplift it, I thought the guys the other night came in and gave us some big minutes. This is another opportunity for us to get better. Every day, we are trying to get better and to me, this is another chance to see them and how they perform. With the officials and fans, you get a game atmosphere so we can clean up some things.”
