The Invite kicked off Wednesday evening, Nov. 19, with the 200 medley relay and 800 free relays. Arkansas brought home third in the 200 and first in the 800 relay. Thursday consisted of prelims in the morning with finals coming for each prelim event following later that evening. The Thursday swim events included the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, and 100 breast.
The Razorbacks excelled in the Thursday finals, placing first in four of the five events. Junior Harriet Rogers placed first in both the 100 fly and 200 free with times of (52.45) and (1:46.56). Sophomore Holly Robinson won the 400 IM with a time of 4:12.26. To conclude the evening, the Hogs placed first in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:29.10.
Friday’s events included prelims and finals in 100 back, 200 breast, 500 free, 50 free, and 400 medley relay. The Hogs picked up two more first place finishes courtesy of senior Sydney Craft in the 500 free (4:47.52), and junior Harriet Rogers in the 50 free (21.85).
“Our entire team had another great day,” head coach Neil Harper said. “Our ladies are competing really well in the morning and earning opportunities in finals at night to go even faster. We need to keep our passion and excitement tomorrow morning so we can finish the meet really strong.”
On the springboards, the team competed on 3-meter Thursday afternoon, and 1-meter on Friday.
Sophomore Majo Sanchez continued to shine, posting a 1st-place finish in 3-meter with a combined score of 702.40. Senior Malea Martinez posted third place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
“I am so proud of the ladies for showing up and diving well,” head diving coach Abel Sanchez said. “They are starting to do what we’ve been working on in practice. We still have a ways to go but it’s always good to see changes in the right direction. Today on 1-meter Malea stepped up and competed like a champ.”
The final day of competition begins with swimming prelims tomorrow at 10 a.m.
