Hogs, Longhorns Renew Rivalry This Weekend at Baum-Walker Stadium

History Lesson
Entering the weekend, Arkansas is 34-56 overall against Texas since 1960, including a 14-15 mark in games played in Fayetteville. Under Dave Van Horn, the Hogs are 8-5 overall and 2-0 at Baum-Walker Stadium against the Longhorns.

In the most recent matchup between the two teams in Fayetteville, Arkansas swept a double midweek series against Texas on March 13-14, 2018. The Hogs won the opener, 13-4, before clinching the sweep with a 7-5 win in the finale.

As Southwest Conference foes, Arkansas and Texas met on the diamond in 18 consecutive seasons between 1974-91. In that span, the Hogs won two home weekend series against the Longhorns, doing so in the 1985 and 1989 campaigns.

Thursday’s contest will mark the first conference game between the Razorbacks and Longhorns since May 4, 1991, when the teams split a doubleheader at George Cole Field in Arkansas’ final season as a member of the Southwest Conference.

It Just Means More Wins
With a sweep this weekend against Texas, Arkansas can improve to 17-7 through 24 SEC games for the sixth time in school history. The Razorbacks also started a program-best 17-7 in SEC play in 1999, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2024.

Arkansas, winners of 18 or more SEC games in seven consecutive seasons (2017-24), needs four more conference wins to hit the 18-win mark in SEC play for the eighth season in a row. LSU is the only other team in SEC history to record at least seven consecutive seasons of 18 or more SEC wins, accomplishing the feat in 10 straight seasons from 1996-2005.

Additionally, Arkansas has finished with 20 or more SEC victories in a season five times in program history, including four times under head coach Dave Van Horn. The Razorbacks reached the 20-win mark in SEC play in back-to-back seasons in 2023 and 2024 for the first time in program history. Arkansas, which has reached the 20-win mark in SEC play in four of the last five seasons, is the first team since LSU from 1994-97 to post four 20-win SEC campaigns in five years.

30 Seasons of Baum-Walker Stadium
The 2025 campaign marks the 30th season in the history of Baum-Walker Stadium, which opened in 1996. Arkansas won its 700th game at Baum-Walker Stadium against Washington State on Feb. 17, 2025, and maintains an overall record of 723-246 (.746) inside the stadium’s friendly confines entering this weekend’s SEC series against top-ranked Texas.

Entering Thursday night’s series opener, Arkansas is 27-3 at home this season. Since the venue opened, the Hogs have recorded six 30-win seasons at Baum-Walker Stadium, accomplishing the feat during the 2004 (31 wins), 2018 (program-record 34 wins), 2019 (33 wins), 2021 (30 wins), 2023 (32 wins) and 2024 (program-record 34 wins) campaigns.

Excluding 2020, the Razorbacks have won 28 or more games in seven consecutive seasons at Baum-Walker Stadium: 2017 (29 wins), 2018 (34 wins), 2019 (33 wins), 2021 (30 wins), 2022 (28 wins), 2023 (32 wins) and 2024 (34 wins).
