Hogs, Rebels Clash in SEC Tournament Quarterfinals

HOOVER, Ala. – Led by SEC Player of the Year Wehiwa Aloy, fifth-ranked Arkansas (43-12) opens its trip to the SEC Tournament against No. 17 Ole Miss (38-18) in the quarterfinal round of the single-elimination tournament.

First pitch between the No. 2 seed Razorbacks and No. 7 seed Rebels is set for 3 p.m. Friday, May 23, on SEC Network with Tom Hart (play-by-play), Chris Burke (analyst), Kyle Peterson (analyst) and Kris Budden (reporter) on the call from inside Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. With a win, Arkansas would advance to the tournament semifinal round and play the winner of No. 1 LSU (No. 3 seed) and Texas A&M (No. 11 seed) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 23, on SEC Network.

Arkansas, which earned a bye to the quarterfinal round, completed the regular season with a 43-12 overall record and a 20-10 mark in SEC play, clinching its sixth 20-win SEC campaign in program history. The Hogs, winners of 20 SEC games for the third consecutive season, are the first SEC team to win 20 or more conference games in five of six seasons, as well as one of two teams along with LSU (1996-98) with three consecutive 20-win SEC seasons in the 30-game era.

History Lesson
Arkansas is 64-54 all-time against Ole Miss, including a 6-4 record in games played at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala. Under head coach Dave Van Horn, the Hogs are 39-44 overall and 6-4 in Hoover against the Rebels since 2003.

The Razorbacks and Rebels squared off on SEC Opening Weekend earlier this season. Arkansas won two-of-three games at Ole Miss on March 14-16, losing the opener before winning games two and three to secure the series win.

Arkansas has won five of its last six SEC Tournament matchups against Ole Miss, including each of the previous two meetings in 2019 and 2021. During the 2021 campaign, the Razorbacks defeated the Rebels, 3-2, in the semifinal round to advance to the title game before capturing their first SEC Tournament championship in program history.

It Just Means More Wins
Arkansas clinched its sixth 20-win SEC season in program history with a series win against Tennessee to close out the regular season. The Razorbacks have now finished with 20 or more SEC victories in a season six times in program history, including five times under head coach Dave Van Horn: 2019 – 20; 2021 – 22; 2023 – 20; 2024: – 20; 2025 – 20.

The Hogs have reached the 20-win mark in SEC play in three consecutive seasons (2023-25) for the first time in program history. Arkansas is the first SEC program in history to win 20 or more conference games in five of six seasons, and one of only two programs, along with LSU (1996-98), to record three consecutive 20-win SEC seasons.

Homerin’ Hogs
Through 55 games, Arkansas has swatted 109 home runs, tied for its most in a single season in program history. With their next home runs, the Razorbacks will set a single-season program record, eclipsing their single-season program record of 109 home runs, which was set over 63 games during the 2021 campaign.
