Hogs Shine in Primetime at the Palace

The night started with the women’s and men’s teams being introduced.

Coach Cal welcomed everyone and said he hopes this is an event fans can look forward to attending each year.

After introductions, Coach Cal and Ellen Calipari funded two scholarships at $10,000 each to Colby Barnett and Ella Welentiny.

The live action got started with a dunk contest. Nick Pringle came in third. Billy Richmond III was a close runner-up with Trevon Brazile winning as he jumped over 7-footer Elmir Dzafic and threw down the dunk.

Following the dunk contest, Meleek Thomas (who had 20 points) defeated Jaden Karuletwa (17 points)  in the 3-point shooting contest. The team then played an 8-minute scrimmage. Unofficial scoring totals were:
• Billy Richmond III, Meleek Thomas and Isaiah Sealy – 8 points
• Trevon Brazile and Malique Ewin – 7 points
• Karter Knox – 6 points
• Darius Acuff Jr. –  5 points
• D.J. Wagner and Elmir Dzafic – 4 points
• Jaden Karuletwa –  2 points
