Hogs Win Over Drury in Friday Dual Meet

The Arkansas swim and dive team won its meet against Drury on Friday night with a dominating performance, 153.50-50.50.

The Razorbacks are now 24-3 all-time against Drury and have and bumped their winning streak against the Panthers to 18 straight.

The Hogs won all 13 events, including a sweep in both relay races. Once again, senior Sydney Craft and freshman Ellen Garritson led the way with two first place finishes apiece. Craft placed first in both the 1000 freestyle and 200 butterfly, while Garritson captured the top spot in the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke.

Other first place finishes included junior Tammy Greenwood (200 freestyle), senior Delaney Harrison (50 freestyle), junior Harriet Rogers (100 freestyle), sophomore Ashley Morton (200 backstroke), and freshman Kate Bradley (500 freestyle).

“I am really happy with the performance of our team,” head coach Neil Harper said. “It is important for us to be tired and uncomfortable to help us stay focused on race strategy and execution. Our seniors and juniors led by example and we had some strong performances from our sophomores and freshmen.”

In the diving team’s first outing of the season, sophomore Majo Sanchez placed first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events for the second straight year against the Panthers.

“I am so proud of the young ladies, everyone posted an NCAA zone cut,” diving coach Abel Sanchez said. “This is a great start to the season … [Majo] dove lights out. We also had some solid scores from Lotti Hubert on 1-meter, Lauren French on 3-meter, and Maizie Sanchez, who also received an NCAA zone cut on 1-meter.”

The Razorbacks look to continue their strong start to the season as they open SEC competition against South Carolina on Oct. 11 in the Arkansas Natatorium.
