Hopkin breaks four records on Day one of Mizzou Invite

The Arkansas women’s swimming and diving team showed up and showed out on the first day of the Mizzou Invite. The Hogs had 20 best times, and unbelievable performances from senior Anna Hopkin and junior Peyton Palsha.

“We had a great day today!” Coach Neil Harper said. “It was exciting to see them swimming so fast and obviously happy. So many lifetime bests and valuable experiences at competing in finals at night and performing even better!”

Hopkin started off the Mizzou Invite with a bang, posting the fastest 50 free in the country. Additionally, Hopkin made the NCAA “A” cut for the 50 free, broke the pool record and broke the school record. The senior rallied for the 50 free Final A cut finishing with a time of 21.19.

“A new school record in the 100 fly this morning and then tonight a new school record in the 50 free.” Harper said. “She was phenomenal- NCAA automatic qualifying time and fastest time in the country. It was fun for everyone.”

Palsha’s 500 free time in the preliminary of session one, qualified her for the Final A cut this evening. The junior shaved almost three seconds off her time from this morning in the Final A cut, finishing in first with a time of 4:38.86, breaking the school record and earning NCAA “B” CUT.

The Razorbacks 200 free relay with Kobie Melton, Molly Moore, Brittney Pike and Hopkin made a new school record on top of being a NCAA automatic qualifying time.

“Our team is performing well, and we need to be ready for a great morning of preliminaries tomorrow for more opportunities to perform great in finals tomorrow night.” Harper said.

The Razorbacks will be back for round two of the preliminaries of the Mizzou Invite Thursday Nov. 21 at 10 a.m.
