Jacobus Remains On The Bowerman Watch List

USTFCCCA Release

NEW ORLEANS – Three-time NCAA champion pole vaulter Lexi (Weeks) Jacobus has been named to The Bowerman 2018 Post-Conference Championships Watch List, announced Wednesday afternoon by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Jacobus is one of seven student-athletes from the Southeastern Conference, including Aleia Hobbs (LSU), Sydney McLaughlin (Kentucky), Keturah Orji (Georgia), and Karissa Schweizer (Missouri), Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (Kentucky), Lynna Irby (Georgia) to be featured on the prestigious list of 10.

A five-time first-team All-American, Jacobus finished the indoor season as a bronze medalist at the SEC Indoor meet en route to a third NCAA Championship in her signature event. She holds a personal best in the event of 4.70m/15-5, the No. 2 mark in program history and a clearance which earned her an Olympic berth during her freshman season in 2016.

Jacobus set a new NCAA Division I-leading mark in the pole vault at the SEC Championships this past weekend, clearing 4.65m (15′-3″). The mark by the native of Cabot, Arkansas, is tied for the fifth-best mark in collegiate outdoor history. The event title was Jacobus’ second of the season.

The next Watch List will be announced on June 5 live on TrackTown Live, just ahead of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
