FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The accolades are starting to stack up for senior Moses Kingsley, who has been named one of 20 watch list members for the 2017 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award.

Named after Hall of Famer and three-time NCAA Champion Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the annual honor, in its third year, recognizes the top centers in men’s college basketball.  A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates.

Three days after earning Preseason SEC Player of the Year honors, Kingsley is once again mentioned among the best names in the sport and finds himself on the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Watch List for the second-straight season after being named one of 10 finalists for the award last year.

Arkansas is one of seven programs in the country to put players on watch lists for the Jerry West Award and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar after senior Dusty Hannahs was listed as one of the top shooting guards in the country earlier in the week.

Kingsley posted 16 double-doubles last season, the most of any returning high-major player in the country. He finished the 2015-16 regular season as one of five high-major players in the nation averaging at least 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game and was one of three players in the country with multiple games of 20 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks.

After posting 76 blocks as a junior to rank second in the SEC, Kingsley enters his senior campaign ranked fifth in program history with 163 career blocks.

By mid-February, the watch list will be narrowed down to 10 players. In March, five finalists will be presented to Abdul-Jabbar and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. The winner of the 2017 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles on Friday, April 7, 2017. Broadcast information will be released at a later date.

Kingsley and the Razorbacks will hold a Red-White scrimmage on Sunday, Oct. 23, before opening exhibition play on Friday, Nov. 4 against Central Missouri.
