Kingsley Named To Naismith Trophy Watch List
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas senior forward Moses Kingsley is one of 50 players on the preseason watch list for the James A. Naismith Trophy, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Thursday morning.
Kingsley is now on three prestigious watch lists for the Naismith Trophy, the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award and the Lute Olson Award. Named in honor of Dr. James Naismith, inventor of the game of basketball, the Naismith Trophy is presented annually to the top college basketball player in the nation. Arkansas is one of three schools in the SEC represented on the list.
Kingsley is coming off a junior campaign that saw him as one of five high-major players in the nation to end the regular season averaging at least 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. He was one of three players in the country with multiple games of 20 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks.
His 16 double-doubles last year are the second-most of any returning high-major player in the country, and after posting 76 blocks as a junior, Kingsley enters his final collegiate season ranked fifth in program history with 163 career blocks.
Arkansas opens the season on Friday, Nov. 11, welcoming Summit League favorite Fort Wayne to town for a 7 p.m. tip-off in Bud Walton Arena.
