Lawson Blake Named to SEC Community Service Team
FAYETTEVILLE – For the second straight year, Lawson Blake has been named to the SEC Community Service Team.
Although he was sidelined for the year with an injury, Blake still took pride in serving his hometown of Fayetteville and the state of Arkansas. In the summer, he participated in Samaritan’s Feet events in Hot Springs and Pine Bluff. He also helped raise money for cancer research in the Razorbacks’ annual Suites & Sneakers Gala as well as being a part of the Make-A-Wish Waiters for Wishes event. In the local schools, he was part of the Ramay Reads and was a speaker at the McNair Middle School Awards Ceremony. During Christmas, Lawson was part of the basketball team’s Christmas Giveaway, where the program helped 16 families enjoy Christmas with food for a full Christmas meal, gifts for the children, a large screen TV and a check to cover rent for the month.
Blake serves on Arkansas’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, is vice chairman of the SEC Basketball Leadership Council and serves as the SEC representative and chairman of the NCAA Student-Athlete Engagement Group. He additionally is a member of the Arkansas Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
