FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Maria Jose Sanchez has earned SEC Diver of the Week honors for the second time this season coming off an impressive performance against TCU and SMU Friday and Saturday where she broke the Arkansas program record on platform, posting a score of 319.75.
This marks the second time Sanchez has earned SEC weekly honors with her first coming on the heels of a standout performance against Drury the week of October 1 where she posted NCAA Zone-qualifying scores on 1-meter and 3-meter events. Sanchez dove to an incredible 345.60 on 3-meter, winning the event, and she put up a score of 305.00 on 1-meter before having her historic day on the platform. Her 319.75 performance eclipsed Liana Bugslag’s 2012 record score of 297.98. This is the first time since the 2019 season that a Razorback diver has posted a new program record in either of the 3 diving events.
