FAYETTEVILLE – 17th-ranked Arkansas is back on the road for the third time in a four-game span as the Razorbacks play at #20/21 Georgia on Saturday (Jan. 17). Tipoff in Stegeman Coliseum is set for 4 pm (ET) / 3 pm (CT).

Arkansas and Georgia enter the game as two of the top 15 scoring teams in the nation. Georgia is at #1 with its average of 96.4 ppg, while Arkansas is 14th at 90.5 ppg. The two teams rank 1-2 in the NCAA in fastbreak points, with the Bulldogs averaging 24.8 ppg and the Razorbacks averaging 21.1 ppg. Georgia leads the NCAA in free throws made per game (21.8 (Arkansas in 21st at 19.4), but Arkansas leads the SEC in fewest fouls per game at 15.9.

After Georgia, Arkansas will get somewhat settled in Bud Walton Arena to close the month of January as three of the four games are home contests, starting on Tuesday (Jan. 20) when nationally-ranked Vanderbilt comes to Fayetteville.

NOTES:

  • Arkansas and Georgia have met on 45 previous occasions, all coming since the Razorbacks joined the SEC for the 1991-92 season.
  • Arkansas leads the all-time series 28-17 versus the Bulldogs, including a 15-3 mark in games played in Fayetteville.
  • Arkansas has won 11 of the last 14 overall, but is just 7-11 all-time in Stegeman Coliseum.
  • Last year, Arkansas, playing its first game without injured Boogie Fland, saw Adou Thiero and Karter Knox lead the Hogs to the second-largest, come-from-behind win in Bud Walton Arena history, turning a 12-point halftime deficit into a 68-65 victory. Not only were the Razorbacks down 12 at halftime, but the Hogs went down 15 (48-33) with 15:24 left in the second half.
  • A side note, after Arkansas started SEC play 0-5 last season, it was the 3-point, come-from-behind win over Georgia that spurred the Hogs’ strong finish (8-6 over the final 14 SEC games) that ended with an NCAA Sweet 16 finish.
  • Coach Calipari now has 890 on-court wins and is 10 shy of reaching 900 wins as head coach of an NCAA Division I program.
  • Meleek Thomas leads all NCAA freshmen in 3-point percentage at 40.5%.
