FAYETTEVILLE – The #16 Arkansas Razorbacks will be in the Metroplex for the second time in as many weeks when they take on #8 Baylor in the 4PT Dallas Duel on Saturday (Nov. 9) at American Airlines Center, home of the Dallas Mavericks. Tipoff is set for 6:30 pm and the game will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Last Friday, Arkansas played TCU in Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena in an exhibition charity game.

This will be the sixth time the Razorbacks and Bears have met in Dallas and Arkansas owns a 4-1 advantage in the previous five matchups. Overall, Arkansas is 24-13 all-time in Dallas in neutral-site games thanks — in part — to winning four SWC Tournament titles in Reunion Arena (1982, ’89, ’90 and ’91). (NOTE: Arkansas is 37-34 when playing at SMU in Dallas during regular-season games.) Specifically, Arkansas is 2-2 in American Airlines Center as the Razorbacks
– beat Texas Tech, 78-65, on Dec. 21, 2005.
– lost to Bucknell in the 2006 NCAA 1st Round.
– beat Baylor, 85-78, Jan. 5, 2008.
– lost to Texas A&M, 71-62 ()T), on Dec. 18, 2010.

NOTES:

  • Arkansas and Baylor have met on 145 previous occasions, making the Bears fourth among Arkansas’ most common opponents. Baylor has won three straight in the series. However, Arkansas owns a 96-49 advantage in the series, including a 6-5 mark in neutral site games.
  • The series dates back to Arkansas’ first season of basketball – 1923-24. Baylor is one of six teams the Razorbacks have played at least 100 times over the years including Texas A&M (169), Texas (155), SMU (155), Rice (144) and TCU (143).
  • The teams have only played four times since 1991, the year Arkansas left the SWC for the SEC. Three meetings were on neutral courts – Jan. 5, 2008, in Dallas; Dec. 20, 2009, in North Little Rock; and Mar. 29, 2021, in Indianapolis. One meeting came two years ago in Waco as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
  • There are six active NCAA Division I coaches that have won a national championship and this game features two — Arkansas’ John Calipari and Baylor’s Scott Drew. To take it a step further, Calipari and Drew are the only active coaches to win an NCAA title and an NIT title. The other active coaches to win an NCAA title are Dan Hurley, Bill Self, Rick Pitino and Tom Izzo.
