FAYETTEVILLE – The #21/22 Arkansas men’s basketball program concludes its four-game homestand by hosting the Jackson State Tigers on Friday (Nov. 21). Tipoff at Bud Walton Arena is set for 7 pm (CT), and the game will be broadcast on SEC Network Plus.
Jackson State was the preseason favorite to win the SWAC and feature the SWAC preseason Player of the Year Daeshun Ruffin, who began his career at Ole Miss. Of their four losses, three have come from nationally-ranked teams Illinois, Louisville and Auburn.
After Jackson State, the Razorbacks hit the road to play #5 Duke on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27 in Chicago. The game will be televised on CBS and tipoff is set for 8 pm (CT). After that, the Razorbacks return home to host #6 Louisville for the ACC/SEC Challenge on Dec. 3 (Wed.).
NOTES:
- Arkansas and Jackson State have met on 12 previous occasions and the Razorbacks have won all 12. The teams met every year for 12 straight years from 1990 to 2002. The first three meetings were played on neutral courts, twice in North Little Rock and once in Pine Bluff. The last nine meetings of the series were played in Fayetteville and all in Bud Walton Arena. In fact, in the 1993-94 season, the Tigers were the fifth opponent to play in the newly opened in Bud Walton Arena.)
- Arkansas freshmen Meleek Thomas and Darius Acuff Jr. are the top-scoring freshmen duo in the country, both ranking among the NCAA top 15 rookies in scoring.
- Not only are Thomas and Acuff the top freshmen duo, they are 1 of 13 duos in the NCAA to average at least 18.0 ppg.
