FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas and South Carolina will meet for the 39th time – all since the two schools joined the SEC for the 1991-92 season – on Saturday (Jan. 20) in Bud Walton Arena. Tipoff is set for Noon (CT) and the game will be televised on SEC Network.

Arkansas steps away from Bud Walton Arena on Wednesday (Jan. 24) before returning home to host Kentucky on Saturday (Jan. 27).

NOTES:

  • Arkansas and South Carolina have met on 38 previous occasions, all coming since the Gamecocks joined the SEC the same year the Razorbacks did (1991-92).
  • Arkansas owns a 23-15 advantage in the series, including a 12-5 advantage in games played in Fayetteville. Arkansas has won three straight and eight of the last 11.
  • Two interesting 3-point tidbits in the series for the Hogs. On Feb. 9, 2019, at South Carolina, Arkansas (Mason Jones) made a 3-pointer for the 1,000th consecutive game. At the time, only five other teams had streaks of at least 1,000 consecutive games with a 3-pointer made (UNLV, Duke, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Western Kentucky). Then, the last time the Gamecocks were in Fayetteville (Jan. 18, 2022 – almost two years to the day), Arkansas went 0-of-11 from 3-point range to snap a streak of 1,092 games with a 3-pointer made – dating back to Jan. 7, 1989. It was the third-longest such streak in the NCAA at the time behind UNLV and Duke.
  • After recording nine blocked shots versus Texas A&M on Tuesday, Arkansas jumped two spots to lead the NCAA in blocked shots (6.7 avg.). In losses at Georgia and at Florida prior to A&M, Arkansas blocked seven and eight shots, respectively. Arkansas has had at least one player with three blocked shots in each of the last four games and in 10 of the 17 games this season. Interestingly, Arkansas has no players in the NCAA top 125 nor in the SEC top 6 in blocked shots but is the only team with three players among the SEC top 10 in blocked shots and four in the top 20.
  • The Razorbacks continue to rank among the top 5 in the NCAA for free throws made and attempted. Arkansas was 31-of-40 at the line versus Texas A&M as Tramon Mark was 17-of-22. The 31 makes by Arkansas rank sixth-most in school history in an SEC game. As for Mark, his 17 free throws made tie for fifth all-time in school history and ties for second in an SEC game. His 22 attempts tie for third all-time and ties Corliss Williamson’s record for an SEC game.
