NCBWA, USA Today Coaches Put Razorbacks at No. 4

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas is ranked No. 4 in both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and USA Today Coaches preseason poll.

The final two of college baseball’s six major polls, which also include Baseball America, D1Baseball, Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, were released Thursday.

Arkansas will begin the 2022 campaign in the top 10 in five of the six preseason polls. The Razorbacks are also ranked No. 2 by D1Baseball, No. 8 by Baseball America, No. 9 by Perfect Game and No. 20 by Collegiate Baseball.

Arkansas, one of six SEC programs in the NCBWA’s top 10, received five first-place votes in the top-35 poll. The SEC leads all conferences with eight ranked teams – No. 2 Vanderbilt, No. 3 Mississippi State, No. 4 Arkansas, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 7 Florida, No. 8 LSU, No. 16 Tennessee and No. 22 Georgia.

The Razorbacks received four of 31 first-place votes in the USA Today Coaches poll. Arkansas is one of eight SEC teams listed in the Top 25, which is topped by future SEC member Texas.

Head coach Dave Van Horn and the Hogs, reigning SEC regular season and tournament champion, open the 2022 campaign – their 100th season of competition – against Illinois State on Feb. 18-20 at Baum-Walker Stadium.
